Sweden Cont'd VI

Day 4, Stockholm

We woke up early and had a massive breakfast that Ida's mum prepared.
(Scrambled eggs, toast, bacon (!), tea, and orange juice.)
We took the train into the city and began our all-day-trek.
First, we walked around Old Town - which was epic, old, and beautiful.
The shops were ridiculous and fantastic.
I couldn't afford a bloody thing, either.
We saw the changing of the guards at the royal palace (only barely), and then made our way to a cafe.
We ordered lunch, snapped pictures, and talked to strange men with foreign tongues.

Afterwards, we made our way into the small alley ways, and found an exhibition.
We walked through, had a glass of wine, looked through the literature, talked to people, and again - snapped pictures.

Eventually, we decided to go to the Vodka Ice Bar.
There's one in London, but the originals are all in Sweden - Stockholm being the second one that was built.
It's exactly what it sounds like - an entire bar and room made of ice.
We paid 180 kr to get in, and that bought us our first drink (glass also made of ice).
They dress you in massive blue parkas, hood and gloves included.
We walked in through two air tight doors, and made our way into the bar area.
We were instantly greeted by loud American guys.
(I think they were just happy to see some girls!)
We talked to them for a bit, but barely.
Ida made out with an ice sculpture, we downed our drinks, took as many pictures as possible
and made our way out. I was wearing open toed shoes and my toes had turned red.
Brrr.

After this, we decided to get on the tube and make our way towards the giant Globen.
It's mostly an inconsequential building that hosts massive concerts, but I loved it.

By this time, we decided to grab a bite to eat.
What we had originally planned on doing was eating, and then going back to her mums to get ready.
We stumbled upon a Thai restaurant that Ida said was absolutely amazing.
When we walked in, we were greeted by a queue of about 10 people.
The 'approximate' waiting time was an hour.
We walked around the area for a bit, and made our way back to the bar and proceeded to sit there for another hour and thirty minutes.
In total, we waited for 2 hours. In that time, we had four beers each and peanuts.
I had to eat before I threw up and passed out.
The place is named after a famous beach in Thailand that's renowned for its massive parties they have each month.
It was quite something. There were tuc-tucs, and mostly you sit on the floor around your table.
Everything was dimly lit, cricket noises in the background, it had such a great atmosphere.
We went nuts by the time we were seated and ordered tons of food.
TONS.
Overall, we spent close to four hours there, and enjoyed every single one.
Regardless of the wait.

By this time, it was nearly 9 and way too late to go back to change.
We made our way to a club called Debaser which I had heard of before.
It's one of the more well known places in Stockholm for its good music.
We arrived, and to my surprise it was unisex bathroom.
Awesome! Hot boys, please.
Since we hadn't made ourselves 'night ready', we did so then.
Primping, mascara, lipstick, etc.
Two bands played, the first shit, the second very JAMC. Not bad.
We sat back on leather sofas and for every person who passed - male or female -
we rated yay or nay.
More nays than anything.
I was surprisingly disappointed with Swedish men.
We were hit by on completely retarded boys who just wouldn't get the hint.
After the bands finished, the place turns into a club.
The first song that got me up was a Le Tigre song and I went wild.
There was one guy who we referred to as Bollywood (and not in a funny, ironic sort of way either),
he tried to get his groove on with us but it was no-go.
After a while of dancing to fabulous songs we made our way outside to get some air.
It was around 2am, and the queue to get in was stupidly long.
It would appear that all the pretty boys come late - because the entire queue was hot.
Girls and boys alike.
We took the night bus home (an hour in total!) and as soon as my head hit the pillow - I was out.

I love Stockholm.
